De gangbare Wiki’’s hebben allemaal iets gemeen. Als je ze gebruikt moet je je webbrowser gebruiken (FireFox, Internet Explorer, Opera, etc.). Dat is lastig voor softwareontwikkelaars. Hier probeert een ontwikkelaar uit te leggen waarom dat voor hem lastig is (vakjargon was blijkbaar onvermijdelijk): 

A lot of Wiki variants exist, but they are all HTML and CGI based (AFAIK). That means, if I want to use a wiki to document my software that first of all I have to store it in a separate place from the code (which is in a CVS repository).Second of all, I have to use the simple editing widget of my browser to edit it.
